kristensk: thumbs up (FMA - Group)

*tentatively pokes LJ* Is this thing working yet?

Well, here's hoping it is. I've been meaning to make a post for days but hadn't managed it between getting the last, monster chapter of "Nameless" up, packing for Otakon and all the LJ problems. But, yes, I'm now in Baltimore. [livejournal.com profile] seekersks and I picked up our badges today (no cool FMA badge this year), and Otakon starts tomorrow.

It's looking to be a good year. No voice actors that I'm super-thrilled to see, but there's some sort of "Voice Actor Storytime" that sounds fun. And, best of all, the convention will be showing the new Fullmetal Alchemist movie on Saturday! And, yes, [livejournal.com profile] jordannamorgan, I'll let you know if I think it's something you want to see. Though the review posted to [livejournal.com profile] fm_alchemist sounded very positive in that regard... and got me excited to see it all over again.

Oh yes, do tell after you've seen it. Your word will be the best indicator for me, since you know my stringent sensibilities as to first-anime compatibility. :Þ

(In fact, while waiting for LJ to function, I did inquire about said compatibility on an FMA forum. I was told it seems to be generally a stand-alone cross-compatible story, so that's good, I guess.)

The long review on fm_alchemist also very much made it sound like a stand-alone adventure set in Ed's pre-story State Alchemist days. For some reason, the reviewer seemed to think that was a mark against it, but it's what I was hoping for. I just want one last adventure with Ed and Al. (Though if Viz would like to translate those remaining novels and/or if Inoue would care to write a few more...)

YES. More Inoue light novels, please!

Except for occasional plugs of my fic or graphics, I'm never going anywhere near fm_alchemist again if I can help it. I've pretty well come to the conclusion that no interaction with the FMA fanbase on LJ will ever end well for me. If I ever have a question, I'll go back to the forum I mentioned (at fullmetal-alchemist.com).
