kristensk: SWAT Kats rushing to action (SK - Let's Rock)
Well, I've gotten a few little things done lately. Namely, updating the SWAT Kats Fan Art Page with five new pieces from returning artist Cody.

I've also updated my main SK site, but it's not really anything of note. Just taking down the Christmas decorations (yes, I know I'm late) and doing some backend clean-up.

In fannish news, I'm excited to see that "The Devil is a Part-Timer" series is finally getting a new animated season! I loved the first season and have been slowly reading my way through the translated light novels the show is based on.

Otherwise, I'm currently watching the short "Pacific Rim: The Black" animated series on Netflix. The first episode had some great and some meh. I want to like it because "Pacific Rim", but we'll see how it goes.

Here's another [community profile] fandom_stocking offering. This one's a "Pacific Rim" drabble for [personal profile] endeni featuring Mako and Pentecost. Note: it contains movie spoilers.

So, the bunnies wanted to play some more in that "Pacific Rim" fusionverse. Particularly the FMA end of it.

So, shortly after watching "Pacific Rim", I had these crossover ideas occur to me. They started with the below contrasting summaries. I was able to write the first idea easily, but the second got stuck. Then, inspiration struck tonight, and here's the set.

As always, my con report is very belated. I really meant to post something while in Baltimore, but it just never worked out. Then, I came home with lingering sinus woe that killed my desire to do much of anything. But, all is better now, and it was a great trip.

Mom and I started on Thursday by taking one of the Baltimore Trolley Tours, which was a fun mix of sightseeing and history. (Although, while our guide was very well-versed in his history, someone should let him know that Otakon is not a "Halloween party" inspired by Japan.) Then, we wandered through the Otakon matsuri (festival) and hit the Power Plant Barnes & Noble where I finally succumbed to temptation and picked up "Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero, which adds some nice backstory to the movie. Of course, the real Otakon adventure began with the con on Friday.

Well, it's been a very happy movie month for me. "Pacific Rim" was everything I was hoping for - fantastically cool robots versus freakish monsters and a lot of much-appreciated little nods to mecha anime. It's just a fun movie. And, its particular method of piloting the robots - two, often-related pilots mind-linking to share the mental strain? Oh, that's given me some interesting ideas for future drabbles. I know a couple sets of brothers I'd love to apply such ideas to ;)

Then, there was the "Ao no/Blue Exorcist" movie. *squee!* It's not a perfect movie... and it made me sniffle like I knew it would, but it's fun, more of a favorite series, and absolutely amazing to look at.

kristensk: Gurren-Lagann (Gurren-Lagann)
So, I started watching "The Devil is a Part-Timer!" (or "Hataraku Maou-sama") in which a ruthless demon king is forced into an ignoble exile as a fast food employee. A surprisingly cheerful fast food employee who aspires to attain a full-time position and who tends to use up what little demon power he regains in helping people.

This caused me to realize something: Inter-dimensional baby swap! It All Makes Sense Now. Search your feelings! You know it to be true!

What? No, I'm okay. Really.

In other fannish ravings, every new trailer is making me want to see "Pacific Rim" more and more. Especially this one. It makes my inner seven year old Voltron fan happy. And, the scene starting about 2:14? "This rock boat is my fist!" ....Now, I want to re-watch Gurren-Lagann.
