It was the armor that drew Murray’s attention. To say that it stood out would be an understatement. Who on earth would wear such a thing? It was only after several long minutes that he noticed the second figure at the table. A small blond boy in a red coat seated in front of a monstrous spread of food that he was devouring with unholy speed.
Murray stared longer than he should have before remembering to feign disinterest and watch a woman with an over-sized purple hat instead. But, the pair wouldn't leave his mind. Who were they?
A little boy who apparently had money to burn and a man in armor...
The answer hit him almost immediately. The armored man was the boy’s bodyguard. And, any kid whose parents could afford a personal bodyguard must be filthy rich.
Oh, today was looking up after all.

"Last Request" (Dragonheart, meant to explain the premise of the sequel movie)
"I have something to ask of you." Slowly, she rose from her crouch and stepped to the side. In the darkness he could see the whiteness of a large, oval shape lying in the grass.
It couldn’t be!
His shock must have communicated to her because she nodded her head immediately. "It is my last egg. I am far too old to produce another. This one is a miracle in itself." She looked at him sternly. "You should hurry. There’s a dragonslayer not far behind me."
Still struggling with his shock, he grasped at the only explanation that made sense. "You want me to hide it."
"Yes, hide it," she answered. "And, father it."
(I imagine this female dragon is "The Starred One" Draco mentions, the dragon Bowen killed before his encounter with Draco.)

And, loving "Last Request"! It does explain where this egg came from! Now, is this just a drabble, or will it extend to a longer plotline? ::knows the egg was taken to a monastery at some point... Tho' she also thinks she's trying to repress the second movie as she didn't like it as much as the first::

Date: 2011-10-15 03:53 pm (UTC)It's meant to be a short fic. I wouldn't get into the second movie, just how it was possible that a dragon's egg could be found in Draco's cave, Draco being male and thus probably not capable of egg-laying. And, yes, I'm using the concept of dragon procreation from "Reign of Fire"... because the dragons were the good part of that movie.
--Tho' she also thinks she's trying to repress the second movie as she didn't like it as much as the first::--
I certainly didn't like it as much, but I did think it did some nice things... if with a much lower budget.
And, Rin icons for the win!

As though summoned by his thought, the obsidian monolith was suddenly before him. There was no sound. No rush of wind. It had simply manifested itself in the heartbeat between existence and nonexistence.
At his feet, the surviving homunculus, Envy, felt the presence as well and stirred. Painfully, his maimed body tried to regenerate enough of the necessary components to form words.
"I won't go back!" he screamed, twisting to throw the words into Ed’s face. "I won’t be killed by some human! Least of all y—!"
The words ended in a gurgle as a steel blade crushed his newly reformed larynx.
Still crouched over Envy, Ed addressed the Gate. "Al's body," he said, slowly withdrawing the alchemized blade. "I want Al's body back and rejoined with his soul." He held out the hand clutching the Stone. "I have a Philosopher's Stone as payment. And, this." A short wave of his bladed arm indicated the quivering homunculus.
The Gate was silent and still, but Ed could sense it weighing the offerings.
At last, it spoke in the soundless voice of projected intent.
Ed's eyes narrowed. "I know it's more than enough," he repeated the unspoken words. "I want what you took from me as well."
There was another silence while the words that were not words made themselves known to the blood-stained alchemist.
His answering smile was a thin, mirthless mockery of expression. "I don’t care about my limbs. You know what I want."

And, on a much lighter note, your guess was dead-on about "All Wet".
"All Wet" (Fullemtal Alchemist, first anime, pre-series)
"And, that’s assuming he doesn't demonstrate it first by blowing me up." Ed was warming to his rant. "Or maybe I'm just the delivery boy. He gives me his new toy." He pantomimed accepting an invisible gift. "Tells me to be sure to push this button or pull that lever to give the brass a big surprise." Pulling his face into a dopey grin and crossing his eyes, Ed poked at the air. "So, like the good dog I am," if he heard Al's snort he didn't let it interrupt him, "I don't ask questions and do just like I'm told and - KABOOM!" Ed threw his arms out. "I get blown up along with half of Central Command." He scowled. "You know what, I should bring it back. Leave it right on the Colonel's desk and run—"

Date: 2011-10-14 04:01 am (UTC)His heart. Er, figuratively. Let's just say he hasn't exactly been himself the last four years. I'm not sure if this one will ever see daylight, but I do have a complete prologue (where the excerpt comes from) and first chapter.
