kristensk: FMA - Ed, Al, Winry - Homecoming (FMA - Homecoming)

So, yeah... Fullmetal Alchemist is over. Well, there are still three (with rumors about four!) more episodes of the Brotherhood anime to go, and I trust they will be sufficiently awesome, but... Yeah, it's over. And, Inuyasha is over. *cry* All my favorites at once! Still... the end was amazing. Well worth the ride. More, less coherent commentary is behind the cut:

So, I read chapter 108...

And, there was much squee! Because of: Father finally getting his comeuppance! Ed's stalking past Truth with the "Face of Utmost Determination" and his final, correct answer! The brothers walking out of the Gate into the light together! Ling's decision to take care of the other clans! Marcoh's arriving with a Stone for Roy (and Havoc? given the ending snapshots?)!

And, much sniffling... Greed, oh Greed... I knew there was a reason I loved you, man! I'm glad you finally found what you really wanted. "It's enough," indeed. *sniffle* And, Hoho... I'm glad you too finally got what you wanted. And, Ed, you're safe and sound, but... Oh, Ed. I didn't think I'd like it, but, after your speech to Truth, how can you fail to be anything but more awesome even without alchemy?

And, much awwww... Sig hugging Al! Ed giving Mrs. Bradley baby!Pride! toddler!Pride!, just toddler!Pride! I'm so happy for Mrs. Bradley. But, most of all, the boys come home to Winry! Arakawa could have given us nothing after the final battle but that scene, and I'd have been happy. It's what I've wanted for them all along. Everything else is just icing on the awesome cake.

And, some giggles... Ed's proposal... thing! Winry's reaction! Yeah, Winry, it really did deserve a headdesk (head...train?), but it was cute, right? And, Ling carting May off like a piece of luggage! It's goofy, but oddly sweet... especially after reading someone else's suggestion that maybe it's a sign of them becoming less rivals and more true half-siblings.

Other commentary - Scar is spared! And, I'm not at all surprised that Major General Armstrong was behind it... and could get away with it.

In short, Hiromu Arakawa is made of awesome and win, and I will be squeeing for days.

And, yes, [livejournal.com profile] mintysage and I have decided that "We Found What We Were Looking For" by Bryan Adams is our personal ending theme for FMA.

Well, it's easy for me to translate your squee. Thanks to our conveniently awakened telepathic powers and all ;)
