Movie Prattle

So, I haven't done movie chatter in a while... I'll try not to dump any major spoilers, but there may be some. Thus, I'm putting it all behind the cut.
For starters, while I haven't mentioned it, I have been continuing to work my way through the classic/Showa era of Godzilla movies. Most recently, I watched "Ebirah, Horror of the Deep" and "Son of Godzilla". Both seem to be fairly unpopular, but I found them surprisingly enjoyable. The monster fights may not be wild like "Final Wars", but they're not overly repetitive or boring either. And, while the settings are similar, the storylines mix things up well with the human side being the most fun adventures I've seen from this era. And, "Son of Godzilla" even had some genuinely cute moments for the titular son, Minya/Minilla... despite how ugly I find his character design.
I've also been watching the "Godzilla Island" shorts that Toho is releasing on YouTube. They're pure, silly cheese loaded with overacting and literal action figures standing in for all the monsters, but they're oddly fun.
Then, there was "Super Mario Bros." It didn't set my world on fire, but it was just fun. And, I already want a re-watch to hunt for more little Easter eggs.... even though I'll never catch them all since the last Mario game I played was.... Mario 64? Look, that disconnect from "I control it here in my hand and it moves over there on the screen" really messes with my coordination. There's a reason all my computer art was garbage until I got something tablet-based.
Finally, "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3", which was a perfect send-off to the gang and a perfect finale to the storyline started with the first movie. As usual, I laughed and cried, and it was wonderful. I was particularly thrilled that Quill finally returned to visit his grandfather, a plot thread I've been wanting to see resolved for years. Also, Quill's shutting down the High Evolutionary's motive rant was glorious. I need more of this. I've never understood listening to the reasoning of the person who tortured your friend(s), destroyed your hometown, and/or murdered your family and is trying to explain why they need to do it again/on a larger scale. Let's have more "Shut Up, Hannibal" moments!
Now, to find a good day to finally catch "Across the Spiderverse"!
