A Cat Update

I haven't mentioned it here, but I lost my cat, Mo, back in March just after her 16th birthday when she finally lost her battle with cancer. It was a blow as Mo was both my little buddy of many years and my only company the last few years.

So, at the urging of family and friends, I visited the local animal shelter during an adoption event a couple weeks ago. I went "just to look". And, in the cat room, a tiny little torbie cat immediately came to the bars of the cage to see me, purring away. She continued to purr and show me her tummy as we sat in a chair and visited while, from the banging and barking, the dogs apparently staged a prison riot out in the hall. Between her sweetness and her absolute chill, I knew she was the one.

Meet Paisley! Or, as I quickly shortened her to, "Pai-Pai". She's now settled in, so here's hoping for many long years together.

Wow! She does look a lot like my first cat. (And, yes, like a Maine Coon.) Does she have any extra toes on those big mitts?

And I see Dragon Knight books in that second picture. *g*

She actually has tiny little paws with only the usual number of toes. I know she looks huge there, but there's less than seven pounds of her. And, she can fit those little paws even through things like the air holes on the cardboard box the shelter sent her home in. (Which she did to tell me she desperately needed go to the bathroom on the way home. That didn't end well as there were no rest stops available, but we survived.)

Yes, yes, you do ;) That's my new bookcase where they've finally gotten a proper home.

It's incredible that she's so small. She just looks like one of those infamously large breeds. My cat that looked like her was a 14-pound armload.

If you need any new catnip mice for her, just say the word. :)

She reminds me of Jenny, our little cat who lived from my tween years until several years into Mo and Flash's lifetime. Jenny also never weighed more than seven pounds and was like a perfect miniature of her normal-sized brother. ....Maybe I should start calling Pai-Pai a miniature Maine Coon ;)

And, she does like your mice! Though I can't see that she's noticed the catnip. But, Flash probably killed any trace of it the way she would sit and lick the mice like an ice cream cone.
