A Multi-Fandom Selection of Fanfic Recs

kristenskI've read several nice stories lately from a variety of series. Here are my top picks.

Summary: "Happy birthday, Sabo," Koala repeats, and holds out the rest of the stack of papers. "I got you your past."
Comments: Sabo and Koala's interplay is absolutely amazing as is every line of dialogue between Koala and the Whitebeard Pirates. It's fast and witty and so much fun. As is Ace and Sabo's note-perfect reunion. I will never tire of "what if?" reunion fics in this fandom because I need that kind of fix-fic.
With a Smile on My Face by JoeMerl
Series: My Hero Academia/Fire Force Crossover
Rating: G
Warnings: None.

Summary: Shinra has a talk with an actual superhero.
Comments: One of those brilliant "this needs to happen" stories. It's short and sweet and has no context for how this meeting happened, but it doesn't need it. Shinra just needs to hear what Midoriya would say about his troublesome nervous tic.
Full of Surprises: Snowball by dnofsunshine
Series: Ao no/Blue Exorcist
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mild profanity.

Summary: From a series of Rin-centric drabbles. "It will be fun; trust me."
Comments: This is just a short, but, after the intensity and angst of the last year's worth of manga, I needed this. I needed these kids just being kids and good friends having fun together. That everyone is beautifully in-character and the ending is a perfect showcase of how much they've grown is icing on the cake. For more in the same vein, there's also: Full of Surprises: Proud
