Fanfic Works In-Progress

I found an interesting meme while surfing through LJs and thought I'd try it out:

"If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence/paragraph/whatever from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favorite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s)."

I have no idea what a "NaNoWriMo" is, but fanfics I got, so here goes:



"Betrayal" (lame working title) -- Inuyasha (work in-progress/unposted)

The figure's eyes widened in recognition, and he took a few stumbling steps closer. He struggled to focus on Hiroshi's face.

"Jiji?" he croaked uncertainly. Then, as though the word had taken the last of his energy, the tattered figure collapsed.

"What Once Was" -- Inuyasha (work in-progress/unposted)

Before she could work herself up into a suitable fit, a hurtling bundle of cloth collided with the side of her head at terminal velocity. The impact sent the girl tumbling back into the floor in a snarl of flailing limbs. Sputtering indignantly, Kagome managed to claw her way free just in time to see Inuyasha framed in the doorway once more.

"Put that on," he instructed, righting the door he’d broken in his earlier haste. Stepping outside, he set the door loosely back in its frame, shielding her from view. "And, don’t scream again unless you’re halfway down some youkai’s throat."

"What system, Commander Feral?"

The commander leveled a scowl on the hapless kat and replied in the measured voice he reserved for the most dense of new recruits. "The cloning system."

"Doubletake" -- SWAT Kats (work in-progress/first 6 chapters posted)

"Two officers just brought in a reporter from Kat's Eye News...."

Feral fancied he felt the first pang of a migraine coming on.

"Tell them I'll issue another statement later."

The press had already been at it all morning. How many statements and shots of the hangar did they need?!

"Actually, she's been arrested, Sir. She was caught trespassing at Puma-Dyne. She says she needs to speak with you immediately. Something about their employees' psychological records."

Something in Feral's gut twisted. "Have her sent to my office on the double."

I had to cheat on most of them.... a lot on "Doubletake". I just couldn't find any one paragraph that really said anything at all. I wonder if this is a problem in my writing style. Hmm... At any rate, it was kind of fun to pick out select moments, and it reminded me of the many things I have on the back burner.

hmmmm... Well the only one NaNoWriMo I know is a LJ-story archive by klgaffney called Fell in love with a girl, featuring her chars, Adavidarian and Zion. 'tis a sweet story ^^ And all this sounds like fun XD If only I was in fic-writing mood ^^;

Huh... Sounds interesting! I looked it up finally and found this: "NaNoWriMo is a contraction of "National Novel Writing Month". Its a concept dreamed up by Chris Baty. The point of the excersize? Writing a complete novel (or at least the first 50,000 words of one) in one month. The month of NaNoWriMo is November, which is just around the corner." 50,000 words in a month... ::ponders just how many that is:: That's pretty scary.
