Ages ago,
jordannamorgan posted a Thirty Anime Questions meme kind of thing. And, I actually wrote up most of my answers almost immediately after reading hers... and then forgot about it. So, here it is now. Please note that there are spoilers within:
01 - Favorite horror anime
None. I'm not a fan of horror because I'm instead a fan of sleeping without nightmares ;)
02 - Very first anime
If I exclude the various re-written 80's releases like Voltron, then my first anime would be the "Tenchi Muyo" OVA's, which I was shanghai'd into watching. However, the series that got me into anime was "Trigun" followed closely by "Inuyasha".
03 - Your anime crush
Sadly, most of my favorite anime characters are too young for me to feel alright with crushing on them. However, of the characters that are fair game: Roy Mustang, Maes Hughes, Shiro Fujimoto. Just my luck, the first two are canonically very taken, and the third is a priest. *sigh*
04 - Favorite anime that you're currently watching
Er... I must confess that I'm currently just starting "Durarara!" and "Silver Spoon". I can't say which is the favorite just yet.
05 - Character you have most in common with
Probably Shiemi from "Blue Exorcist". I know what it is to be shy and awkward around other people and to completely miss what others would consider obvious. I can also relate to Sheska from "Fullmetal Alchemist" and Yomiko Readman from "Read or Die" in their love of books.
06 - Most annoying anime character
Shinn Asuka from "Gundam SEED Destiny". He's blind to any tragedy but his own (and maybe Stellar's), blindly follows the lead of the first person to stroke his ego, and never learns the first thing.
Also Yuri Egin from the "Blue Exorcist" anime. She's perfectly described by this quote: "I tell you, Satan's gonna have no trouble taking over here 'cause all the women are gonna say: 'What a cute butt.' 'He's Satan!' 'You don't know him like I do.' 'He's the Prince of Darkness!' 'I can change him." This is Yuri Egin, just about literally. The worst part is that, in the final battle's aftermath, her spirit comforts her demon lover on his defeat, blind to the people he hurt, uncaring that he's the reason the man who raised her children is dead, oblivious even to the fact that said demon lover tried to kill her sons. She's a terrible mother, and I hope Rin and Yukio decide to stick with their real father's story about finding them in a watermelon.
07 - Favorite anime couple
I'm not a big fan of romance but, just because I'm not, Inuyasha and Kagome from "Inuyasha". Because they were the first couple I ever liked as a couple.
08 - Favorite anime you’ve watched so far
"Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood"
09 - Saddest anime scene
As you might have noticed, I can't pick just one. So, here's a few in no particular order, and mind the spoilers:
--The aftermath of Inuyasha's second transformation into his youkai form where he slaughtered a group of bandits in a blind rage. His frantic efforts to rid himself of the smell of blood. Kagome hugging him. His dark fears that someday he may hurt her as well. And then, the episode ends by going into the closer song, "Dearest", with its angsty lyrics. Ouch.
--The moment when Rin in "Blue Exorcist" realizes that, despite releasing his demon powers and sacrificing any hope of a normal life, he still couldn't save his adoptive father. His broken sob of, "Father!" kills me every time.
--The better part of the final episode of the first "Fullmetal Alchemist" anime. Ed's death, Al's sacrifice, Ed's counter-sacrifice, Hawkeye's anguished cry when Mustang is unresponsive... It's almost twenty solid minutes of having my heart torn out.
10 - Favorite death scene
I'm not usually a fan of death scenes, but I must admit that I much appreciated how Bradley and Father in "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" were brought down by the combined efforts of everyone they had mocked and belittled.
11 - Favorite mecha series
"Gurren-Lagann", hands down.
12 - Favorite magical girl anime
None.
13 - Character with your favorite weapon
Well, I really, really love swords, and Inuyasha's Tessaiga is amazing. By the end, it's like a Swiss Army sword with its varied powers. Although, I must admit that the alchemy seen in "Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood" is much more versatile. And, Ed can alchemically transform his automail arm into a short sword for bonus awesomeness, sooo.
14 - Favorite anime cosplayer
None, though I've seen some amazing costumes in passing at Otakon.
15 - Post a cute Neko-girl or boy
Like Kuro here? Okay, probably not what was meant, but Kuro's so adorable he got his own bonus episode. Thus, he counts.
16 - Favorite Voice Actor
Mmm... I have a hard time picking just one of the Japanese actors. Maybe Kappei Yamaguchi (voice of Inuyasha, among others). The one time I saw him in person he seemed as thrilled to be there as any of his fans. Although, performance-wise Romi Park (Edward Elric) is amazing. Among the English voice actors, definitely Vic Mignogna.
17 - Future anime cosplay
Sadly, the only character I even vaguely resemble is Sheska from "Fullmetal Alchemist", any of the costumes I would want to wear would be unbearably hot, and I'm simply not a seamstress or at all crafty. Honest, the results would be terrifying.
18 - Most debatable anime you've seen
I don't like to debate my entertainment. I just want to enjoy it.
19 - Favorite anime opening
Oddly, I can think of more favorite ending sequences than openers, but the standout openers are the final opening to "Fullmetal Alchemist" set to "Rewrite" and the second opening to "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" set to "Hologram".
20 - Favorite shoujo anime
None.
21 - Favorite CLAMP character
I haven't watched many CLAMP series. In fact, the only one I've completed is "xxxHolic". So, maybe Watanuki? At least, I feel for the poor guy as he's dragged around at what he can only see as Yoko's fickle whims.
22 - Character you love in a series you hate
I tend to drop series I'm not enjoying long before I start hating them or loving any of the characters.
23 - Anime you think had the best, or most intriguing art
Presently, I'm leaning toward the "Blue Exorcist" movie because I'm still squeeing over the background art. But, the first "Fullmetal Alchemist" movie, "Conqueror of Shamballa", rivals it with lovely backgrounds and character art.
24 - Favorite anime hero or heroine
Edward Elric from "Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood", Rin Okumura from "Blue Exorcist" and Inuyasha... pretty much equally. Close runners-up are Kenshin from "Rurouni Kenshin" and Luffy from "One Piece".
25 - Favorite anime villain
I'm not a fan of villains. Unless I can count villains who are more like anti-heroes or who later became good guys. In which case, then Greed from "Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood" and Viral from "Gurren-Lagann".
26 - Favorite harem anime
I generally avoid harem anime and anything that looks like it's going to turn into a harem... but I will admit that the more action-oriented episodes of the "Tenchi Muyo" OVA's were fun... Though that has nothing to do with the harem aspect, and, again, I was sort of shanghai'd into watching the series in the first place. (I had one of the only VCRs in my dorm, and it and I were kidnapped, if you must know. But, my kidnapper had marshmallow bunnies, so it wasn't all bad.)
27 - Favorite anime opening theme song
Mmm... "Rewrite" ("Fullmetal Alchemist"), "Change the World" ("Inuyasha"), "In My World" ("Blue Exorcist"), "Period" ("Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood"), "Rolling Star" ("Bleach"), "Ignited" ("Gundam SEED Destiny"), and "Makka na Chikai" ("Buso Renkin").
28 - Favorite Pokémon
I don't watch or play Pokémon, but Pikachu is adorable.
29 - Favorite school uniform
I hate school uniforms with the fire of a thousand suns. Especially if they're those abominable little sailor outfits like my mother used to try and buy m-- *cough* ...I'm not a fan of school uniforms. Though I suppose the boys' uniform in "Blue Exorcist" does look rather sharp if you don't button up the jacket and avoid that ghastly sweater vest. (What? Yes, I hate sweater vests with the fire of a thousand suns too.)
30 - Favorite anime ending
Since I went with opening sequences above, I'm going to treat this the same. Thus... My all time favorite end sequences are probably the "Let It Out" and "Shukan Sentimental" enders for "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" followed closely by the "Every Heart" ending to "Inuyasha".
