Yeah, that would make it really confusing. This is basically the Red Bull from "The Last Unicorn" trying to hunt one of the kirin from "The Twelve Kingdoms". Easier said than done since the kirin, while unable to stand blood themselves, have youkai-like creatures that serve and protect them.
And, I do highly recommend "Twelve Kingdoms", both the anime and the novels, if you like fantasy. Though I don't know about the availability of either where you live.
