Just saw the third Inuyasha movie last night. I think it's going to rate as my favorite movie of the summer. (Granted, "The Bourne Identity" will follow at a close second - yes, I just saw that this past weekend. I'm a bit behind; sue me. At least now I'm caught up for "The Bourne Supremacy".) It was awesome. Oh, I had a few quibbles here and there, but the first two movies taught me not to expect perfection (or perfect harmony with the anime or manga canon) and just enjoy the good stuff. And, there was plenty of good stuff. Enough to keep me a giddy, happy fangirl for weeks probably.
Like what? Okay, brief, hopefully not too spoiler-filled rundown:
* Inu-Papa rushing in to save Inuyasha's mother swinging the Tetsusaiga. I think I'm going to have to watch that part repeatedly... because it was cool.
* Inuyasha saving Kagome from the Evil Volleyball of Doom! Yeah, that volleyball will never attempt to brain any innocent girls again.
* Possessed/Youkai Inuyasha! I dislike blood and gore, yet I like Youkai Inuyasha... Something is wrong here... Or maybe it's the same as my Dark SWAT Kat obsession - I like watching characters war with their dark sides (so long as the good side wins anyways).
* Sesshoumaru's "walk up to advancing army of the undead, flick sword at them, clear path, continue walking calmly" move. It's one of those things you really have to see.
* Inuyasha sees his father's face... Sniffle moment.
Mmm... Yeah. Good movie. At least if you're a crazy Inuyasha fangirl.
