I guess mainly it's just the solidarity between the brothers here. In canon, Yukio was all but ready to kill Rin when he first arrived at the school. In this, seeing both of them caring for each other and prepared to deal with their secret heritage *together* is awesome. I'd much rather have seen this in the series itself than the way their relationship was for most of its run.
