Drabble Post - Rule #12 (FMA)

A random idea that will hopefully become a series. In a conversation with [personal profile] jordannamorgan, the idea came up that there needs to be a list of "Ed's Rules for Dealing with Crazy Alchemists (and Ungrateful Townspeople)". And then, I found the inspiration for this particular "rule" in the log of a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] mintysage. The rule number is completely random.

Rule #12

If there are less than fifty ways it can go wrong, it's a workable plan.

Not that Ed ever counted all the ways a plan could go wrong, mind you. He just calculated if they fell between “a lot” and “certain doom”.

“Because, let’s face it, life is full of uncertainties, and no plan survives contact with the enemy anyway. You might as well go with your gut. If you waste time planning all the little details, you’ll lose your chance.”

“Checking to be sure the pipe you’re sneaking through doesn’t lead to a furnace isn’t a little detail, Brother.”

I burst out laughing at the first line--and again at Al's proviso at the end. This is so very ED. :D (And I'm delighted indeed to see something come of the Rules premise!)
