Here and There

Some of my recent wanderings on the internet turned up some very random, but very awesome finds.

First, Real Anime Food, a blog where you can find real recipes for various foods seen in anime. Personally, I want to try Rin's sukiyaki. Though the Super Yellow Okumura Rin Special is tempting too. jordannamorgan, I don't know if you cook, but you might find it interesting that her most recent effort was Asuna's Rabbit Ragout.

Then, there's Ichigo's Sheet Music, which has a large collection of anime and game-based piano sheet music. Admittedly, I don't play the piano myself, and the music isn't suited to the flute, which I do play. But, I'm having fun cajoling my pianist mother into trying various favorite tunes ;)

And, yes, that's my snow icon because, amazingly, it has already snowed here briefly! And, I'm ready for more! Bring on the snow!

--I do wonder if the blogger has done any pastries related to Yoshimori from "Kekkaishi". Even Zero did a little cooking in an episode of VK, although the only dish mentioned by name was salt ramen.--

I haven't found anything from either of those series yet, but the blogger does take requests. Oh, and I did find Asuna's Super Tasty Sandwich, which at least doesn't involve any cute (and hard to find!) ingredients like rabbit.

Now, that... looks pretty good. (Only without the mayo. :Þ ) And much closer to the kind of novice level I might consider attempting.

In spite of the fact that I wouldn't touch them, she'd better be planning Kirito's Giant Frog Legs. Just because. *snork*

I'd skip the mayo too ;) And, I wonder where one even gets frog legs let alone giant ones. Although, I do know an older woman who has fond memories of nights spent "frog-gigging"...

In Florida, one might be able to substitute alligator legs. *shudder* I find the idea highly unsavory, but gator meat is actually... not unpopular here. (You know those roadside stands that usually sell fresh produce or boiled peanuts? Well, on the highway heading down toward Melbourne, there's one that offers alligator jerky.)
